Best Form Builders for Business in 2021. Comparing Established Tools and Alternatives.

Best Form Builders for Business in 2021.

Online forms are an essential business tool for your company, whether it’s big or small.   Doing surveys, collecting feedback, generating leads, processing orders – everything can and should be done online these days, so we’re here to help you find the right online form builder for your business needs.

While there are many form builders out there, some of them come up the most when you start searching. These three are extremely popular:

  • Google Forms
  • Jotform
  • Typeform

Let’s take a brief look at each of them as the industry leaders: what they can and cannot do for business, and if there is a suitable alternative that doesn’t have as much coverage just yet. We’ll be looking at a relatively new option on the market – a form creator by AidaForm.

In this article, we’ll deal with the following questions:

  • What are the pros and cons of each service?
  • How do you choose the right form creator for your needs?

Google Forms

Google Forms is the most straightforward form creation tool and a part of the Google Workplace platform. It lets you easily create a questionnaire or quiz with standard fields, embed it on your website, or share using a direct link.

Google Forms

Pros:

  • Unlimited forms and responses for free
  • Standard form fields and intuitive design settings that are easy to set up and use
  • If you already use other Google services, you don’t need to create an account

Cons:

  • Only eleven field types
  • No signature field
  • No payment collection
  • File upload requires respondents to log in to their Google account
  • Limiting responses to one per user also requires sign in to Google
  • The custom form design features are so simplistic that you won’t be able to create a unique form that doesn’t look like a “Google form”

JotForm

JotForm is one of the first major form builder services to appear on the market and they’ve been around for a very long time. JotForm launched back in 2006, and since then the service has grown exponentially: it offers a huge number of functions, fields, integrations, and settings. The same is true for their humongous template gallery that includes hundreds of templates for every occasion.

Jotform

Pros:

  • Huge template gallery for all kinds of business applications
  • 500+ widgets available for embedding in the form: you will find literally anything
  • 100+ third-party integrations

Cons:

  • For a new user, the interface may be difficult to navigate. The layer upon layer of features and fields that have been added to JotForm since 2006 may be difficult to arrange into a meaningful structure.
  • AMany form templates look old-fashioned. It’s very likely that you’ll have to figure out the design settings yourself to get an attractive and modern-looking form.

Price: from $19/month when billed monthly

Typeform

Typeform is a Spain-based service that was the first to offer the conversational approach to online forms with one question at a time. And that’s what Typeform is really good at! When going with Typeform, you can count on beautiful designs, engaging interface, and forms that feel really fresh and friendly.

Typeform

Pros:

  • Stunning design
  • Stylish ready-made templates you can use with minimal changes
  • Multiple third-party integrations
  • Great sharing settings that let you embed the form into your site, a popup, email, or anywhere else you like

Cons:

  • Form structure is limited to conversational only (which is problematic sometimes)
  • No signature field
  • No PayPal support
  • May be pricey for a small business: on a $29/month plan you will only have a maximum of 100 responses, and to get up to 1,000 responses per month you have to pay $59.

Price: from $29 per month if billed monthly

AidaForm

Unlike the previous three form builder giants, AidaForm is just gaining popularity so it may be the first time you’re hearing about this service. I believe their design and form features are close or on par with those of the big competitors. One of the perks of being new on the market is friendly pricing, as well as a personalized approach. This is my personal favorite alternative to the most popular online form creators out there. As always, whether it has everything you need depends on your business goals and requirements.

AidaForm

Pros:

  • Both the traditional and conversational form layouts
  • 100+ well-designed templates
  • A wide variety of order form features, like PayPal and Stripe payments, subscriptions, order carts, price calculators
  • Useful form fields, including signature, captcha, sliders, ratings, and matrices
  • You can get 1,000 responses monthly for just $8/month

Cons:

  • A limited number of third-party integrations
  • Only one basic way to embed a form on a web page
  • Some features are relatively hard to configure: you may have to check the user guide for things like score calculations and logic jumps

Price: from $8 per month if billed monthly

Conclusions

Surprise! There isn’t a one form building service that’s best in show for every situation. Still, I can give you a few tips on how to choose a solution that works for you.

  • If a classic form with essential features (no signature, payments or order carts) is enough for you, start with Google Forms. It’s free and doesn’t limit the number of responses you can get in any form.
  • If you are looking for a very specific field or integration that other services don’t have, check out JotForm. There is a high chance that you will find any feature there. Also, if you’re familiar with form design and HTML you might find its flexibility with form design helpful.
  • If you are a fan of trendy conversational design, and you have a high enough budget, go for Typeform. It is great for lead generation quizzes, short feedback surveys, and basic order forms. However, the price might be a bit too high for smaller businesses.
  • If you need a versatile form tool at a reasonable price, try AidaForm. There, you’ll be able to create a full-featured order form, ask for consent, and make lead generation quizzes. The form designs are pretty good, too!
